Percussionist I-Jen Fang Premieres Adventure on Mt. Hehuan

Brilliant percussionist I-Jen Fang will premiere Adventure on Mt. Hehuan (Mountain of Joy in Chinese) on annual TechnoSonics Festival at UVA. Scored for solo bass drum and optional interactive electronics, the expansive timbral world resulted from intensive and exhilarating exploration of the bass drum with Prof. Fang. The MAX patch was created by composer/technologist Max Tfirn in consultation with me. The explorations in both domains reflect my abiding study of, and intense reaction to, the timbral qualities and transformations of both the acoustic and digital worlds.
