Saxophonist Joseph Lyons Performs Penelope’s Song

October 14 @ 4:00 pm

Saxophonist Joseph Lyons performs Penelope’s Song at the American Single Reed Summit at the University of South Carolina.  The piece is a tribute to Penelope, wife of Odysseus, who staved off suitors during the two-decade absence of Odysseus.  Shatin fashioned the electronics by processing recordings she made of Charlottesville-based weaver Jan Russell working at her wooden looms. For more information, visit the composition page.
