unter soreles vigele, commissioned by YIVO, will receive a digital premiere on the program Continuing Evolution: Yiddish Folksong in Classical Music. I have reinterpreted this beautifully mysterious folksong with floating whole-tone scales and timbral shadings, tied to triadic moments. Other composers represented on this fascinating program include Martin Bresnick, Marti Epstein and Aaron Kernis. Performances will be by Cantata Profana, featuring singers Annie Rosen and Emily Donato, violinist Jacob Ashworth and pianist Daniel Schlosberg.
