Joan Mizrahi Performs Chai Variations on Eliahu HaNavi

October 19 @ 3:00 pm
Free

Pianist Joan Mizrahi, a member of the Friday Morning Music club, performs Chai Variations on Eliahu HaNavi on tahis program of music by Jewish composers, that also includes music by Max Bruch, Ernst Bloch, and Darius Milhaud.  The order of the variations is up to the performer, and always so interesting to hear the different choices!  Some of you may have heard Nathan Carterette’s explanation of  his dramatic grouping of triplets of variations, making up the total 18 in his discussion with Judith, followed by a video of his performance.   Joan Mizrahi has come up with a  different, equally fascinating ordering, interpreting the variations in relation to the Biblical telling of the Exodus from Egypt.
