Paul Kim Conducts the ODU Symphony Orchestra in Ice Becomes Water

Conductor Paul Kim, leads Ice Becomes Water, scored for string orchestra and electronics fashioned from field recordings shared by glaciologist Oskar Glowacki, who studies the acoustic signatures of glaciers. Commissioned by the San Jose Chamber Orchestra, this piece reflects Shatin’s deep concern about the intensifying melting of glaciers and what this means for water supplies to millions.  It is both a lament and a reflection on the power and threat of the melting process.
